The Trans Canada Trail plays a developing role in providing
Canadians with a way to stay physically active and healthy.
The trail is a multi-use recreational trail which, when
complete, will unite all the provinces of our great country
with a combination of gravel roads, footpaths, urban streets
and canoe routes.

The trail is a massive undertaking; its southern route
from Victoria to St. John's will cover approximately 12,000
km - the trail will not be completely intact until 2017!
In any case, I intend to use as much as possible of it to
travel Canada's entire length by human-powered travel, from
Pacific coast to Atlantic coast.
The route I intend to take is outlined in orange. You will
notice a blue line through Northern Ontario; because of
slow progress in trail development in this region, there
are huge gaps existing between Kenora and Thunder Bay. Therefore,
I propose to travel by water using the old Ojibway and Voyageur
fur-trading canoe route. This is no short-cut; it is a gruelling
670 km paddle!
